Summit Global Representative Attendance

UNCCD COP17 · Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification

17–28 August 2026

Summit Global will send student and mentor representatives to UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where governments, scientists, international organisations, civil society, youth and the private sector will convene around land restoration, drought resilience, food systems and sustainable development.

Our participation reflects Summit Global’s commitment to bringing young people into direct contact with the institutions and debates shaping their generation. Supported by academic guidance and structured reflection, the experience offers first-hand exposure to global governance, international policy and the responsibilities that accompany future expertise.

Selected Global Engagements

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation

APEC · Regional Dialogue & International Exchange

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is one of the highest-level, most extensive and most influential economic cooperation mechanisms in the Asia-Pacific region. Its 21 member economies together account for approximately 60% of global GDP and nearly half of world trade. The APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and Ministerial Meetings have long served as premier multilateral platforms convening heads of state, foreign ministers, and senior economic and trade officials from across the region.

In 2020, Summit Global’s student representatives participated in APEC international exchange, engaging with conversations around regional cooperation, economic development and the changing opportunities facing young people across the Asia-Pacific.

The experience continues to inform our interest in helping students understand how economics, policy, technology and international affairs intersect beyond the classroom.

European Organization for Nuclear Research · Geneva

CERN · Science, Research & Discovery

The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is the world's foremost authority in particle physics research and one of the largest international scientific collaborations in human history. It is home to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator, and the birthplace of the World Wide Web. CERN brings together tens of thousands of scientists and engineers from over 100 countries and regions, continually pushing the boundaries of human knowledge across physics, engineering, computer science and big data processing.

Through members of our academic network with first-hand research experience at CERN, Summit connects students with the culture of large-scale scientific inquiry, where physics, engineering, computing and international collaboration converge.

Related activities introduce students not only to frontier science, but also to how major international research collaborations operate, how scientific questions are developed, and how knowledge is produced collectively across borders.

Cross-Border Corporation · Space Technology & Applied Research

Space Age Technology · Space, Remote Sensing & Innovation

Space technology stands at the forefront of global scientific and technological competition. It is a core driving force behind climate monitoring, smart agriculture, urban planning, disaster prevention and national security. Remote sensing is one of the most significant civilian applications of space technology, enabling humanity to observe the Earth from orbit. From environmental change and natural resource management to infrastructure monitoring and precision agriculture, satellite data has become an indispensable basis for modern governance and sustainable development.

Summit has developed engagement opportunities connected to Space Age Technology, introducing students to space science, satellite applications, remote sensing and technology-led development.

Students can encounter how emerging technologies are applied to real questions from environmental observation and infrastructure to agriculture, planning and development while gaining exposure to professional and research environments beyond conventional classroom learning.

Chinese Embassy in the United States · Washington, D.C.

Youth Diplomacy & International Affairs

In 2021, Summit Global student representatives attended, as interns, the first public lecture delivered by His Excellency Qin Gang shortly after his arrival as China's 11th Ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Qin served from July 2021 to January 2023, before later assuming the role of China's Minister of Foreign Affairs — one of the most senior and influential figures in contemporary Chinese diplomacy.

The lecture, as the Ambassador's first public appearance since assuming office, drew representatives from political, academic, diaspora and media circles across Washington, D.C., carrying significant diplomatic significance. Summit students not only attended the full session but also took on professional responsibility for meeting documentation — accurately recording the lecture, Q&A session and on-site exchanges in both Chinese and English, completing a rigorous professional exercise in an authentic diplomatic setting.

What students took away from this experience went far beyond simply being present at a high-profile occasion. They observed first-hand how a senior diplomat articulates positions, responds to questions and navigates the rhythm of dialogue. Through real-time bilingual conversion, they sharpened their capacity for precise expression and cross-cultural communication. And in the discipline of meeting documentation, they learned to hold themselves to professional standards — how to listen, how to discern what matters, and how to distil complex, live information into clear and accurate records.

Public Service · International Development · Global Governance

International Organisations & Global Careers Dialogue

Summit organises educational sessions introducing young people to international organisations, global governance and public-service careers.

Drawing on the experience of professionals who have worked within international institutions, these exchanges explore how organisations such as the United Nations operate, how international careers develop and how students from different academic backgrounds can contribute to global public issues.

Technology · Health · Governance · Sustainability · Social Innovation

Global Youth Leadership & Interdisciplinary Exchange

Our youth programmes and dialogues bring together questions that rarely sit within a single academic subject.

Students are challenged to look beyond single disciplines — to examine how technology, health, governance, sustainability and social innovation intersect. Building on this interdisciplinary foundation, our leadership and global citizenship training empowers them to reflect on a deeper question: how can their chosen fields ultimately serve the wider society?

Our engagement with international institutions, research environments and professional communities is not treated as institutional visibility alone.

Where appropriate, the relationships and perspectives developed through these exchanges inform student opportunities in research, experiential learning, professional exploration and social-impact work.
